After arriving at the meeting point, at Taro Village, where you will be taken to the village farm. Welcome by refreshment drink and then start to the educational guided tour of the farm. Enjoy a delicious dinner feast of local food in the middle of an organic farm.
After finishing your dinner Then finally we will do a short walk to the rice paddies and learn about the Subak irrigation system, the rice paddies and their harvest cycle while stopping by a few spots where most the fireflies appear. We will have a break in a small building in the middle of a rice field while watching the fireflies and having a talk about local tradition and culture. Listen to the other sounds of village nights like crickets, frogs and geckos and learn about other native wildlife.
There are over 2000 species of fireflies across the world. They are found in mostly tropical environments however sadly the population has been decreasing over the years due to habitat degradation, pollution, pesticide use, and climate change. In Taro village, we have created a conservation garden for the fireflies in the hope of restoring their natural ecosystem across our villages so they can soon fly freely… The 6×30 square meter garden is in a natural habitat (rice field) with fresh air, clean running water, and plenty of plants nearby to support their development. With your help visiting the garden, we can support and teach local farmers the benefits of organic farming to create the perfect natural environment for fireflies to survive and live. We do this by teaching farmers to stop using synthetic fertilizer with compost and instead use a natural Bio-pesticide.
